Villierstown is a remarkable spot with a tremendously productive community. They have embraced all that is wonderful in their area and exhibit what can be achieved when a small rural community takes ownership and responsibility for its own future. It has so much to offer the remote worker especially with its Blueway lifestyle! If the tide is right you can kayak away your lunchtime with its boating club at Villierstown Quay or take an evening trip on the water with Blackwater Eco Tours when your day is done.
There are also dance classes, walking trails, bird watching activities, ‘An Cruiscin Lán’ bar and so much more and all only 20 minutes from Dungarvan and Youghal. Since 2017 Villierstown Community Development CLG has been working to turn a derelict site into this fabulous new remote working centre and Montessori School, which is now due to be completed by September 2022.
Villierstown Community Development CLG is a community-based not-for-profit company headquartered in Villierstown, Co. Waterford. The Company was established in 2016 with the purpose of advancing Community Development through Rural Regeneration.
The Company currently consists of 10 volunteer members drawn from the Local Community. In 2017, working with the Local Authority, the Company acquired a derelict site in the centre of Villierstown village. Since then, the company, together with Vincent Murray Designs Ltd. (www.vincentmurray.ie) has been working on developing the site to include a Glamping Pod Site, a Montessori School and also an ‘own door office space’ in conjunction with BVEDZ group. Construction is due to be completed in September 2022.
This collaborative project hopes to transform the economic future for the West Waterford region and is supported by Waterford Leader Partnership, Waterford City and County Council and the Tomar Trust.
